The cover of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is one of the most famous and notoriously dense album covers of all time. Featuring the four Beatles surrounded by various figures from history and pop culture, the artwork was both an extension of the new, more artistically inclined attitudes the band showed on Revolver and indicative of an entirely new style the band were embracing. The Beatles’ growing use of recreational and mind-expanding drugs also played a large role in the creation of Pepper; McCartney has bluntly admitted that Sgt. Pepper was “a drug album” and confided that prior to composing the LP’s final track, “A Day in the Life,” he and Lennon decided, “‘Bugger this, we’re going to write a real turn-on song!’”

Pepper's front and back cover were included in Zappa's album as the inside of the foldout cover instead. Japanese artist Jun Fukamachi released a now very rare electronic version of Sgt. Pepper's in 1977 on Japan's EMI Toshiba label.
